Services for Muslim Clients

Leaving Your Legacy in the Right Hands.

Serving Muslim Clients

Most Muslim immigrants come from countries where Islamic Law of Inheritance is the government's norm, it's something they don't think about or have to worry about. My desire and aim is to give them a sense of comfort knowing their families will have a plan when their time comes.

How We Serve Muslim Clients

In addition to all of the regular concerns that come along with estate plans, it can be especially challenging for our Muslim brothers and sisters.

Most Muslim immigrants come from countries where Islamic Law of Inheritance is the norm, it's something they don't think about or have to worry about. Our focus and aim is to give them a sense of comfort knowing their families will have a plan when their time comes.

Vital Considerations

Muslims believe that wealth is entrusted to us from Allah as a blessing. We have to honor that blessing in how we earn and spend our wealth in our lives. We must also show honor in how we dispose of it after our death. According to Hadith, it is reported that a believer should not let two nights pass without preparing a written will (estate plan). Under the Islamic Law of Inheritance, a Muslim’s assets must be distributed based upon certain rules laid out in the Quran, and the Hadith. We understand and create unique estate plans factoring in these guidelines for our Mulsim clients.

Why We Serve This Way

Our desire and aim is to give them a sense of comfort knowing their families will have a plan when their time comes. In the US, we have to take a few extra steps to ensure that the estate will pass in the way Allah intended. The Prophet (SAW) said, "Tie your camel and place your trust in Allah" (Tirmidihi). I want my clients to be able to tie their camel and trust that we put together an Estate Plan that honors Allah.

The US Legal system will not restrict you in how you distribute your inheritance. There are guidelines and exceptions, some of which may interfere with Islamic Law of Inheritance . This is why our experience with both US and Islamic Law of Inheritance is vital to your estate planning process. If you have concerns, reach out to us and we are happy to discuss them with you.

Powers of Attorney:

This is one of the most important documents in your estate plan. It gives authority to your chosen agent over your assets during incapacity prior to death.

Pre-need Guardianship:

Once declared by a court to be incapacitated, this document gives your guardian the authority to act on your behalf for decisions of life and assets.

Healthcare Directives:

This set of documents makes known your health care wishes to family, friends and doctors. It also names a proxy to make decisions for you based on your wishes.

Creation of Will/Trust:

The will or trust is the portion of an estate plan that directly governs how your assets will be distributed and whether or not probate is necessary.

Probate:

When assets that you own upon your death need to pass ownership, probate is a court supervised process for handling this transfer.

Estate Planning:

Your estate is the net worth of all your assets. An estate plan sets rules for handling your assets in the event of incapacity or death.
